A Foggy, Drizzly, Chilly Day

Yesterday felt like late spring - sunny and 70 degrees. This morning feels more like fall. Muted tones of red, gold, and orange foliage peek through the fog. It's chilly and drizzly. Foggy days always make me think of Carl Sandburg's poem The Fog.

The fog comes
on little cat feet.

It sits looking
over harbor and city
on silent haunches
and then moves on.

I've always loved that poem. Apparently the birds are not worried about those "little cat feet" as they visit the feeders and forage on the ground for seeds. It may be my imagination, but they seem more active and lively on rainy days.

As for me, I've had a busy morning and I am looking forward to a late lunch. I think I will fix a nice hot bowl of clam chowder and curl up on the couch with a good book. It's a little chilly, so I'll probably throw my afghan around my shoulders.

There's nothing like a foggy, drizzly, chilly day!

Tina,

Love your photos. We've had fog here almost every night this week. On Tuesday night I could barely see across the street. However, today is still a nice fall day and fairly warm for this time of the year. I hope it lasts a little longer.

Thanks for stopping by my blog. It's always nice to see you there.

Hugs,
Mary

Hi Tina,

I've always loved the poem about the fog as well. And your clam chowder and curling up with a good book sounds so cozy. But it's been mild and sunny here still, except for a stormy night, the other day. Like Mary, I'm hoping the mild, sunny weather will continue for a while. The colors are finally coming in, but lots of trees are still green. We usually peek late Otober to early November. I love fall!

I enjoyed reading about your foggy day, and the photos are lovely.

Hope your weekend will be a nice one.

Hi Tina,

Lovely photos and post! And... who doesn't long to curl up with a cozy throw and get comfy with a snack and a great book ;-)

Thanks for the nice comment over at "Writing the Cyber Highway!"

Have a great weekend!

Smiles,
Michele

Mary,

Thank you, Mary. It seems that our weather is very similar. I've noticed over the years here in NH we seem to have the same weather as you - only a day or two later. I guess you could do a weather forcast for us!! LOL

I enjoy your blog. It's so nice to be able to read your writings again. :-)

hugs,
Tina

Hi Renie,

My kids would laugh whenever I quoted that first line - which I did every time it was foggy. LOL

I think we are reaching peek colors now. There are a couple of types of trees that haven't turned yet, but we are close. By November, our foliage will probably be pretty well gone.

It has been nice to have such mild weather. Like you, I love fall. I bet your woods will be beautiful!!

Thank you for stopping by. I hope you have a great weekend, too!

hugs,
Tina

Michele,

Thank you for your kind comments.

You are welcome. You did a wonderful job writing it. I'm glad that Renie tipped me off so that I got to read it. :-)

I like your sign off - "smiles" When I leave notes for my husband or kids, instead of signing my name, I draw a smiley with a flip hairdo.

You have a great weekend, too.

smiling right back at you,
Tina
