I'm on the road and in the field doing another photo trip chasing the bloom of our Rosebay Rhododendron (white blossoms) in the northern area of the Southern Appalachian mountains, and with lodging that does not have the most reliable internet service. I won't be home again for a few more days yet, but I did finally develop and upload a few images to update my July 7 Rhododendron post.
Sunrise this morning was a washout, literally, with locally heavy thunderstorms--looks like the rain won't ease up until later morning. Back from breakfast, so I wanted to try and get around to all who visited my SWF, and others too while I still have good internet access. So, please forgive this cut & paste with a small bit of personalization added--I do appreciate your visit and your comments.
Now, that's what I call a contrail! And, a very nice photo of the moon as well.

Very nice, and the moon is pretty! It's hard to see the moon around my yard (the trees) until early in the a.m. - but while out walking, I discovered that a few streets over, there is a perfect view. On the last full moon, I walked there and the moon seemed so HUGE. I remember reading that there was a cosmos reason for this last month, but I've forgotten exactly.
Hallo from north Norway. Last week I saw all Sky Watch Friday photos and they were all great, and I hope to see them all this week too. I love to travel around the world this way.

I'm so glad you got a beautiful view of the moon! I've read that it is an illusion. When the moon is high in the sky, we have no reference points for it, no comparisons. But when it is near the horizon, it looks huge compared to trees, houses, and the other earthly objects within view. So it appears larger. Pretty cool!

A blue sky is always beautiful and the clouds etc. make it more interesting to look at..
very beautiful tina... I love the sky. I can remember as a child of about 12 laying in my parents yard on a summer night and looking at the night sky. I was always awed when I focused on how far it goes...forever... my mind could not comprehend that, but my heart was always thrilled by the wonders of God
