Beautiful Eclipse!

The full lunar eclipse last night was a beauty! Unfortunately, my pictures are not very good. I had hoped to set up my telescope to photograph it, but my yard is still covered in ice. Enough of my whining. I'm lucky that I had a clear sky and do have some photos to remind me of this spectacular eclipse.

Even at this point in the eclipse, the moon shown brightly on the snow. I didn't need a flashlight to see my yard, but most of the stars in the sky were already invisible in the bright glow.

As the earth's shadow almost covered the moon, the sky filled with stars! At this point, it looked as though the moon might remain gray to grayish brown.

Just as suddenly as the sky filled with stars, the moon transformed from her normal gray attire to her stunning copper finery.

Totality ends as a sliver of light creeps across her edge.

The stars hide again behind the moonlight. The copper has faded. Soon the shadow will be gone completely leaving the well named Snow Moon reigning over the night sky. I hope you were able to enjoy this eclipse, too.

Hi Tina,
your pictures are beautiful! Mine are pale, compared to yours. I did not go outside, I shot the pictures from an open kitchen window. And I am always hampered by trees. There are just too many of them.

You are right, the eclipse was beautiful! But I saw no stars at all, and the clouds started to roll in before the totality ended. I will post mine later, as I've had no time until now.

I was happy to see most of the eclipse though, even though it was from a window. But I had a pretty good view anyway!

Thank you for sharing your beautiful pictures. They are just lovely!

Big Hugs,

Renie

Oh Tina, Your photos are marvelous and I loved seeing them. Thank you so much for sharing. I love the coppery color of the moon in that one shot.

With all that was going on around here I didn't get to see the eclipse. What a shame. I really wanted to but sometimes life gets in the way.

Take care, my friend and thanks so much for the comments on Michelle. She will recover slowly. She can't lift anything for a few weeks.

Love and blessings,
Mary

Hi Renie,

Thank you for your wonderful compliments. :-)

I'm delighted that you got a chance to see most of the eclipse. If it was as cold there as it was here, I'm glad you could see it from your window! Sounds like the ideal way to watch a winter eclipse.

I'll be on my way over to see your photos! Take care and have a great weekend, my friend.

Big Hugs right back at you,
Tina

Mike,

I'm sorry you didn't get to see the eclipse. My brother and sister in Las Vegas also had cloudy skies. Thank you for your kind words and "Big Time Hugs"! :-)

Mary,

I thought you might not be able to see the eclipse. You certainly have had a lot on your plate lately. I worry that you may be exhausted and stressed. I hope you've been able to get some rest.
It must be a relief to Michelle to know that she can rely on you during her recovery. I'm sure Brandon and Jordan will be a big help.

I appreciate your kind words about my post. Thank you! It was a real treat to see the copper color appear. Remember when we had the eclipse while we were at Kids' Korner? That one was a little disappointing since the moon didn't really take on the rich copper color of this one. That's why I just had to post that photo!! LOL

Take care, my friend. :-)
Love & hugs,
Tina

These photos are wonderful. I wasn't able to capture any images with my little digital camera but thanks to your post about this event (and a fortunate break in the rainy weather here in So Cal) I was able to watch the whole thing. Thanks for sharing and for visiting Small Reflections. I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
Hugs and blessings,
