Snowy December in New Hampshire

Last year ski season didn't get started until late January, early February. I remember a few balmy January days with temperatures near 60 degrees. This year, the ski season got started before winter arrived on the calendar. Tonight I am awaitng our sixth snow storm. It will probably only bring a couple of inches to my part of the state before it turns to sleet and freezing rain. But that snow amount will be added to what has already fallen in the last two weeks.

As of today, New Hampshire has moved up to the 3rd snowiest December in the state's history since records were first kept in the late 1800's! Although there are only a few days left in the month, it is possible we will break or tie the number one record holder. There are two additional snow events in the weather forcast before New Years Day. This is the heavy wet snow. Many people have to shovel their roofs. On the plus side, New Hampshire is a tourist state with lots of skiing, snowboarding and snowmobiling. All this snow is good for the state and it sure is pretty. I leave you with some photos I took recently. Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow...

The driveway is down there somewhere!

Sunrise kisses the treetop of one tree in the back yard.

The day after the storm, the sunrise peaks through the trees across the street.

Happy New Year!!! :-)

Hi Tina,

Wow, now that's some snow! LOL. Your photos are beautiful. Love the sunrise behind the snowy trees, and the sun kissing a treetop. A real winter wonderland for your grandchildren to enjoy, and it does look beautiful!

We had a brief snowfall the other evening, when the rain turned into huge snowflakes for 15 minutes. Then it went back to rain again. I love the snow, as long as it's not here! LOL.

Enjoy your winter wonderland, Tina. Happy New Year!!

Hugs,

Renie

Tina,

I believe Renie has swapped the words before my fingertips could type them! LOL.

Like Renie, I LOVED the sun kissing the treetop, as well as the sun peeking from behind those snowy trees. Just beautiful photos! Thanks so much for sharing them with us. :-)

I don't have any snow where I live. It's beautiful where you are, but I don't think I'd like all that snow--I'm sure it's soooooooo cold!

Smiles,
Michele

Happy New Year!

Tina,

I'm not sure if Ontario got that storm or not, but your photos are beautiful.

It is chilly in Florida today as well. The high is to be 48 degrees. Winter coat time. Take care. Someone is waiting for the computer.

Love and blessings,
Mary

Tina,

Do you still have all of that snow? We had feet when we left on December 27th and didn't know what we were going to do with anymore. The pile where we had shoveled the driveway was over 4 feet high and we returned yesterday to not one drop of snow. We did see an inch or so in northern New York State.

Love the photos of the sun kissing the trees. Wonderful.

Hugs,
Mary

Hi Renie,

Sorry for the delay in responding. I always enjoy your visits! I'm glad you enjoyed the photos - and glad your "snowstorm" didn't last long. LOL

Do you normally get much snow during the winter? We sure are getting our share here this winter. There's more snow on the way tomorrow and then maybe again on Friday. Oh well, last year wasn't bad so I guess this is Mother Nature's way of evening things out. LOL

Take care and have a Great New Year, Renie!

Hugs,
Tina

Michele,

I'm sorry for being so late responding. I appreciate your kind comments and it's always good to see your smiling face!

Yes, the snow brings cold weather. We had a January thaw last week and now it's back into the freezer. LOL

Happy New Year, Michele!!

Smiling right back at you,
Tina

Thank you, Mary.

I saw on the news that Florida was having unusually cold weather. I hope it didn't spoil the fun.

Hi Mary,

Thank you! Wow - all that snow melted? Wonderful! Despite having a January thaw that included a rain storm, we still have snow on the ground. I thought for sure it would all be melted. And now we are awaiting another snow storm tomorrow with another possible on Friday. If this keeps up, we may have to put one of those red flags on the house so people can find it. LOL

Looking at those bluebirds in your icon makes me wish for spring. :-)

Hugs,
Tina
